Philips VisaPure, the Gentle Cleansing Device

I always think that cleansing is one very important step to remove dirt, sebum secretion and also allow our skincare products to absorb better. I was so lucky to be invited to Philips VisaPure launch last week and try out their latest innovation, Philips VisaPure. It's actually a facial cleansing device which provides a gentle, thorough cleanse for the face and decolletage, revitalizing the skin to swiftly reveal a more radiant complexion. It's claimed to be as gentle as cleansing with your hands but is up to 10 times more effective!

Before we further move on to try out the product on our owns, here's a simple conversation about skincare with Dr. Christina, an aesthetic physician, and product presentation.

According to Dr. Christina, just using your bare hands to wash your face of dirt and makeup isn't enough for a proper cleansing. There might still be dirt residue, dead skin cells or sebum secretion left inside the pores. Furthermore, your hands are unable to reach certain contours of your face, resulting in an accumulation of residue in those areas that will clog up the pores and cause spots and dullness. This is where Philips VisaPure plays an important role to a woman's complexion.

This is how Philips VisaPure looks like. Kid you not, this cleansing device won the product design award in 2013 :O

Philips VisaPure is the only cleansing system in the world that features 'Dual Motion' which means the brush rotates and vibrates at the same time. The vertical vibrating motion of the brush breaks up surface dirt, which is then swept away by the rotating movement, leaving the skin deeply cleansed and stimulated.

Another reason why you need Philips VisaPure: you cannot remove all impurities by cleansing with hand due to the uneven structure of the skin. Certain areas might be missed or difficult to reach while by rubbing vigorously, cleanser might be pushed into the pores and not rinsed out. Hence it is ideal to use a cleansing system to remove makeup and dirt effectively.

Besides, Philips VisaPure has a skin zone timer which indicates when it is time to move on to the next area, ensuring the face and decolletage are cleansed thoroughly and evenly. It suggests to change face skin area (T-zone, left cheek and right cheek) after 20 seconds with a short pause about 0.5 seconds. The full program lasts 1 minute after which Philips VisaPure automatically switches off after to prevent overtreatment.

Then, we were brought upstairs for product demonstration and that's when we get to experience it on our skin too.

I gotta say I really love their design very much and it has actually been developed to suit the needs of modern women with an iconic and stylish finish that is both elegant and feminine.

Here's the first demonstration on whether Philips VisaPure can remove makeup effectively and the results are pretty obvious as you can see in the picture above. The eyeliner is gone within seconds by cleansing using Philips VisaPure.

Another demonstration using orange as it has pores like our skin too. Again, obviously it has clogged pores by cleansing using hands while VisaPure doesn't.

After that, it's our turn to try it on our face! Since I just did laser few days ago and it's not suitable to use cleansing device yet, I walk around to take pictures and I find that most of them are quite satisfied with Philips VisaPure as it's very easy to use and remove makeup and dirt effectively.

Philips VisaPure will be available at major electrical and departmental stores and priced at RM799 for SC5275 (peach colour, 2 speed setting and comes with 1 normal skin brush head and 1 sensitive skin brush head) and SC6265 at RM699 (blue colour, 1 speed setting and 1 normal skin brush head).

Additional Philips VisaPure brush heads are also available for different skin types: normal skin replacement brush head SC5990 (RM59), sensitive skin replacement brush head SC5991 (RM65), and exfoliating skin replacement brush head SC5992 (RM69).

[Beauty Review] Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon

I'm never a lip person because I always think that lip colours are only for older or mature woman, but this Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon has proved me wrong. Miss Hana, a cosmetic brand which originated from Taiwan, has been highly raved by many beauty bloggers and youtubers especially their waterproof gel eyeliner. 8 out of 10 of my blogger friends have it in their make up pouch! Therefore I'm really glad and looking forward to try out their lip balm crayon when I was chosen by Natta Cosme to review it.

I always love Natta Cosme's packaging and those written messages from their team. Definitely a plus point for online shopping!

Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon available in five shades and these two colours are the one I'm going to review today: 01 Purple Sakura Season and 05 Moulin Rouge Diva.

Ingredients, directions and warnings are all clearly stated at the back of the packaging and the lip balm crayon itself.

I personally prefer this type of lip balm crayon rather than the usual lipsticks or lip gloss because it looks fun and cute. It's about my palm size where you can just simply put it in any of your make up pouch and it's easy to use. You can apply it anytime, anywhere even without a mirror yet achieving beautiful glossy lip colour. Definitely the best choice for beginner like me! :D

Swatches on my hand and you can see the colour is really pigmented.

When I first receive the parcel, I was thinking that the hot pink colour doesn't suit me well but in the end it gives very healthy glow sheer colour, which is suitable for daily make up look too. The texture is very soft and smooth but it breaks easily especially when you pull out the cap. Silly me just broke it even before I get to use and take picture of it, which explains the blunt-tip in all my pictures.

Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon contains rose hip oil, aloe vera extract and vitamin E which specially suited for chapped and dry lips. It does smoothen my dry fine lines and gives me soft and supple lips upon applying the lip balm crayon. As for the fragrance, I personally love it very much where it smells similar as the old school fragrance beads.

On the other hand, this lip balm crayon is not long lasting where you can wipe it off easily or the colour will gone after a meal. Besides, it's not retractable and you need to use a sharpener when the tip becomes blunt.

Overall, it is very easy to use, pigmented colours yet moisturizing, but it has really bad lasting power. Since it's very small in size, I wouldn't mind to carry it out with me and reapply when needed. The healthy glow sheer colour tends to make you look younger too! My favourite lip product at the moment :P

Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon available in five shades and priced at RM39.90 RM35.00 each. Now here's a good news to share with you guys! Simply key in "MHSHARP" and you're entitled to get a free Miss Hana Sharpener worth RM15.90 when you purchase any Miss Hana Lip Balm Crayon. The coupon code will be valid until 15th October 2014, so head down to Natta Cosme website now and start shopping! :)

[Review] Indulge, TGV 1 Utama

Are you having holidays right now? Are you suffering from stress? Or are you looking for places for first date or anniversary? If yes, then you must not miss out this blog post and make sure stay till the end!

Thanks to the Butterfly Project, I was invited to the Butterfly Girls Night Out experience with TGV Indulge together with other sponsors, 123 Cheese Photobooth and Muse by Watsons. If you're wondering, TGV Indulge is actually the first luxury cinema in TGV 1 Utama.

"As one of Malaysia's first and largest multiplex cinema operators, TGV Cinemas is constantly striving to redefine the cinema experience for our customers, regardless the age or movie preference. Indulge, therefore is TGV Cinemas' pioneering foray at combining fine-dining and cinema entertainment creating a luxury cinema experience." said the Chief Executive Officer of TGV Cinemas.

With its own private ticketing counter, lounge and dining area and also two exclusive cinema halls which is fitted with reclining chairs and personalized call-waiter-service that can accommodate 32 and 40 pax respectively, Indulge is TGV Cinema's latest unique cinema concept that stands apart from all its current chain of locations and halls.

I was welcomed by soft jazzy tones when I enter the lounge. The rich purple and silver facade provides a distinct element of class to the lounge and dining area as I was greeted by their staffs and Butterfly volunteer team.

As I've mentioned, TGV Indulge has its own dining area and we're so lucky that we get to try out their 10-course fine dining. I was told that their in-house chefs have collectively more than 40 years of experience in Asian and Western fusion cooking hence I was really looking forward to try out their signature dishes. No doubt the appearance already captured my heart, but does it tastes as good as how it looks? :P

Pumpkin Salad @ RM15

Smoked Duck Salad @ RM15

Lamb Koftas @ RM14

Stuffed Potato Skins @ RM12

Grilled Salmon @ RM28

Grilled Lamb Rack @ RM28

Cajun Chicken @ RM20

Nutty Tortilla Banana @ RM12

Panna Cotta @ RM12

I gotta say that their foods do live up to expectation in relation to their price range from RM8-RM30 each. Of course you can't compare it with other fine dining restaurants but it is good enough for a cinema's dining hall. My favourites would be stuffed potato skins, grilled salmon, cajun chicken and nutty tortilla banana. The salads are lack of seasoning, lamb koftas was a bit too dry and salty while the grilled lamb rack was too hard for my preference. I'm not a professional food blogger and it's just my two cents based on my personal preference.

Since there are 10-course meals, bite-sized portion of foods were served so that we get to try out every single type without getting bloated.

With my lovely ladies of the night: (From L-R) Ker Chi, Ker Yi, Miriam and yours truly. It feels great to catch up with my long lost buddies :)

After enjoying our luxurious dinner, we were ushered to the movie hall for "Lucy". I really love how they decorate the whole area and we've stopped halfway for a few times to take pictures :P

I got really excited when I enter the movie hall. That reclining chair, cozy blanket and personalized call-waiter-button, I wish I can watch movie here everyday! Girls, now you can dress in your best outfit to enjoy dinner with your loved one and watch movie after that without worrying that you will freeze inside the movie hall. :P

If you're rushing and no time to enjoy dinner at the dining area, you're allowed to order and eat in the cinema hall too. Food will be served in a bento box and cut into smaller pieces, so you don't need to worry about cutting your steak inside the cinema heh.

Overall, it was such a luxurious experience with TGV Indulge, from food to the seats and services etc. Not only for the discerning cinema-goer, TGV Indulge is also suitable for private and corporate functions with catering provided regardless with or without a movie screening. Definitely one of the top notch luxury cinema in Malaysia!

TGV Indulge is opened from 11AM with tickets priced at RM45 each (meals not included). For more information about Indulge and to book tickets, please log on to www.tgv.com.my or via TGV Cinemas' Movie Buddy app which is available on the Apple App and Google Play store.

[Beauty Review] Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry)

It's been a while since I last do a beauty review on mask. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm a mask junkie and million thanks to HiShop for sending this Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry) over. Fermentation aesthetics "Bidanpo Mediental Healing Mask" is a brand of oriental medicine skin science born in "Hana Green Oriental Medical Clinic" of the oriental medicine skin specialist majored in Oriental Medicine of Kyung-Hee University.

Functions, direction to use and ingredients are all clearly stated at the back of the packaging. This Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry) is a tone-up mask which mainly helps your skin to retain moisture and create a lively glow. It contains Fresh Euterpe Oleracea fruit extract nutrition and the youth of Vaccinium Angustifolium (blueberry) fruit extract. The natural cellulose tencel sheets are highly demotropic and easily fitted onto skin. They are helpful for intensive skin care and deliver the effects of enriched essence gently.

Direction of use:
1. After cleansing, even out skin using toner. Take the mask out of its package, unfold and place the sheet on the face.
2. Rest comfortably for 15-20 minutes and remove the mask.
3. Remove the mask, and let the skin absorb the remaining essence by gently patting the skin.

After applying this mask, I can see my skin is much more clearer and smooth like baby skin. Despite the thick texture of the mask, it has adequate essence and it's very moisturizing as if there's a layer of water on my skin. Surprisingly it doesn't make my skin feel sticky because usually most of the sheet masks I've used will leave sticky feeling due to the essence. Best of all, it's very affordable where one piece costs RM4.50 only.

Good news for all my readers! Now you can enjoy an exclusive 15% rebate by using the coupon code: YUHJIUN. Happy shopping! :)

[Accommodation] Mercure Krabi Deevana, Thailand

I just received the most awesome birthday gift ever! Million thanks to Nuffnang, DiGi Telco, Malindo Air, Mercure Krabi Deevana and Asia Web Direct, I've won a 3D2N paid beach getaway (inclusive of flight + accommodation with free breakfast and hotel transfer) to Krabi! I almost jump in joy when I read the message from DiGi Telco as I've never thought that I will be travelling to overseas so soon after Macau trip in June.

I know some of you must have seen my updates of Krabi trip in Instagram or Facebook (thanks to DiGi's unlimited data roaming with Dtac at RM32/day) and hoping to see more pictures of it, but today I will be posting about the hotel that I've stayed in Krabi, Mercure Krabi Deevana.

"Mercure Krabi Deevana offers chic accommodation in contemporary low-rise buildings located a short distance from Ao Nang beach. With 213 stylish rooms and suites, each with a private balcony, guests can enjoy the resort's excellent facilities and benefit from gracious and personalized service from the welcoming Mercure team. The brand new resort features an exceptional restaurant and bars, three large outdoor swimming pools, a kid's pool, a restful and rejuvenating spa, and outstanding meetings and events facilities. Conveniently located a 30 minute drive from Krabi International Airport and 20 minutes from Krabi Town, the Mercure Krabi Deevana is the ideal choice for leisure guests, as well as corporate meetings and incentive travellers."

Upon arrival, we were greeted by their staffs and they're all so helpful and friendly. The check-in process was quick and they always try to fulfill our requests (eg. king bed instead of two twin bed, any specific view from the room's balcony). Then she show us around the hotel while leading us to our room. Fyi, Mercure Krabi Deevana does provide free shuttle bus to Ao Nang beach (which you need to reserve at concierge beforehand) as it's not located by the beach but 10 minutes walking distance.

Library and Internet corner right beside the lobby filled with a wide range of books, local and international newspapers and magazines. DVDs can also be borrowed to watch in your own room too.

While Starling Lobby Lounge on the opposite. They do serve international snacks and beverages, with live music adds a little extra sparkle in the evenings. I've been wanted to try it out but we always walk back to hotel with bloated stomach at night.

Thailand is always famous for its traditional Thai massage, hence most of the hotels in Krabi have their in-house spa facilities.

Swan Spa offers an extensive menu of rejuvenating massage and body services, each created to aid relaxation and improve wellbeing. They feature 1 private twin room with a Jacuzzi and steam room (couples are welcome!), 2 private single rooms, and 3-bed rooms for foot massage and authentic Thai massage.

Further down here's the Kingfisher Restaurant, which is Mercure Krabi Deevana's signature restaurant offering Thai and International cuisine served in the open-sided or alfresco on the terrace, from buffet breakfast to extensive lunch and dinner menus.

We've never skipped the buffet breakfast at Kingfisher Restaurant during our stay especially when you have such amazing view of this even though we need to leave at 8:30AM for activities.

As I've mentioned, Mercure Krabi Deevana has three large swimming pools and a kid's pool and they all are looking amazing. With broad shade giving parasols and comfortable sun loungers at the poolside, it's definitely the perfect spot for a refreshing dip and relaxation throughout the day and early evening.

They do provide parking space for guests too, but you will need to email them for detailed information.

I must say they've done a good job on cleanliness of the hotel as I do not see any rubbish in the corridor, swimming pool or any other areas.

Tadah, here's our 33-square-metre superior room with a king size bed! Like the usual hotel rooms, it's equipped with bedside reading lamp, flat screen LCD TV with cable channels, IDD telephones with voicemail, Wi-Fi connection (they will provide you the Wi-Fi password upon check-in), coffee and tea making facilities, mini bar and safety deposit box.

No doubt it's really comfortable but the only thing that I dislike is they have two pillows only. I'm the type of person who like to sleep with many pillows around me hehe. :P

Bathroom which includes a refreshing rain shower and Mercure branded toiletries. Double thumbs up that the housekeeper will change everything new everyday (eg. towel, tissue paper and even toiletries) especially when I have a fetish about cleanliness. They do provide two bottled water for free everyday too.

Little did you know that the bathroom has a huge glass window that can see through which adds a little bit more of romance. Of course you can also pull down the curtain if you wish for more privacy.

Best part is they have a private balcony for each and every rooms, the perfect spot to chill at night in a more economy way. :P

Nice view from our room overlooking the swimming pool. If you're wondering, those are deluxe pool access rooms where you can slip off a private terrace and into the swimming pool. How good if we're staying in pool access room aww...

Normally we will seek for guesthouse or homestay when we travel to overseas (except with family) to save money and we don't really stay in the hotel most of the time. But this time was an exception as it was sponsored by Mercure Krabi Deevana and Asia Web Direct and I'm so glad that we have a pleasant stay here in Mercure Krabi Deevana. Being ranked at 7th out of 84 hotels in Ao Nang, Krabi by Tripadvisor, I gotta say they have outstanding customer service,  quick check-in and check-out processes, great location as it's walking distance from Ao Nang beach and other stores (free shuttle bus is also available) and well maintained cleanliness of the hotel.

Overall, I'm very satisfied during our stay here in Mercure Krabi Deevana, except that we're not staying in a pool access room. I will definitely come back here again because 3D2N is never enough for me! Stay tuned for more updates about Krabi. :)
