Worthy Book F&B Edition 2015 - 2016 offers savings at various restaurants and cafes, and outlets are categorised based on their geographic location (by area, states and even shopping mall) and cuisine type. With 45 brands to choose from, this coupon book gives you more than RM3,000 worth of savings in freebies and discounts and all coupons valid through to 30 September 2016. Some of the brands include Morganfield's, Sushi Tei, MyBurgerLab and JuiceWorks. Besides, the editors have featured some recommendations for each restaurant to ensure you wouldn't miss them out.

How it works? With 3 simple steps, browse, tear and redeem and you may enjoy your food! Browse through the worthy book, tear out the voucher of your choice and redeem it by presenting the voucher upon ordering. Remember to read the terms and conditions before redeem the voucher to avoid any disappointment.

I find this worthy book very useful especially for a low paid employee like me and my office is just right beside the shopping mall whereby a meal would simply cost me 10 or 20 bucks and above. In addition, GST has been implemented since April and it makes us even harder to thrive in a bad economy, this worthy book just come right in time and it definitely helps me to save a lot on food (eg. buy 1 free 1 udon dishes at Manmaru Udon which I've used recently).

Worthy Book F&B Edition 2015 - 2016 is available at major bookstores (MPH, Popular, Times, Borders, Kinokuniya), selected myNEWS.com, Klang Valley 7-Eleven outlets or you may purchase it online at www.worthybook.sto.my for RM29.90 only.

[Food Review] Magnum Cafe, Mid Valley Megamall

The latest hype in town is none other than this Magnum Cafe, which just opened its door last Friday in Mid Valley Megamall. Being the first outlet here in Malaysia, there was a special event where the first 500 customers can get a free customized Make My Magnum ice cream and additional promotions. Since it falls on a working day, no one is free to accompany me for this ice cream craze hence Shini and I decided to go on the next day instead. Cheers for desserts! :P

Located at South Court, nearby Golden Screen Cinemas, you can see such a long queue formed right in front of Magnum Cafe since early morning.

We were so lucky that no one was queuing when we reach and immediately ushered to our seats upstairs. Usually the lower floor is for takeaway orders while upper floor is for dine in with more seating areas.

The star item on the Magnum Cafe's menu that people have sung praises is this customized Make My Magnum ice cream. Make My Magnum allows customers to DIY their own Magnum ice cream complete with coating, topping and drizzling. Upon arrival, you can see a huge station set up specially for Make My Magnum with a wide range of toppings and drizzles.

Some of the examples where you can choose for toppings such as almonds, freeze dried raspberries, rosemary, marshmallows, pistachio and etc.

As for coating and drizzles, there are three choices available: white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate.

Jjang! And this is my customized Make My Magnum chocolate ice cream @ RM9.33 with milk chocolate coating, white and dark chocolate drizzles and toppings of marshmallows, Oreo cookies and golden chocolate balls.

Magnum Trifle @ RM25
As I've mentioned earlier, they have dine in menu as well offering desserts platter and main courses and this Magnum Trifle is one of them. Cashew meringue, mascarpone cream, honey balsamic cream served with white chocolate dipped vanilla magnum topped with freeze dried raspberries and fresh strawberries. definitely one great choice for those who prefer desserts with sour taste like yogurts.

Chicken & Salted Egg Spaghetti @ RM22
Malaysian-inspired pasta served with salted egg sauce crisp chicken, Asian pesto and chickarones. I did not try this but according to Shini, it's a little spicy but quite nice as she likes to eat salted egg. Also, the portion is quite small relatively to the price hence you may want to order something else if you're a big eater.

It was such an enjoyment dining at Magnum Cafe but I personally think it's overrated for a dessert like this. Instead of Make My Magnum ice cream, I would recommend you to go for desserts platter like Magnum Trifle as it's more special and tastes a whole lot nicer.

[Review] Indulge, TGV 1 Utama

Are you having holidays right now? Are you suffering from stress? Or are you looking for places for first date or anniversary? If yes, then you must not miss out this blog post and make sure stay till the end!

Thanks to the Butterfly Project, I was invited to the Butterfly Girls Night Out experience with TGV Indulge together with other sponsors, 123 Cheese Photobooth and Muse by Watsons. If you're wondering, TGV Indulge is actually the first luxury cinema in TGV 1 Utama.

"As one of Malaysia's first and largest multiplex cinema operators, TGV Cinemas is constantly striving to redefine the cinema experience for our customers, regardless the age or movie preference. Indulge, therefore is TGV Cinemas' pioneering foray at combining fine-dining and cinema entertainment creating a luxury cinema experience." said the Chief Executive Officer of TGV Cinemas.

With its own private ticketing counter, lounge and dining area and also two exclusive cinema halls which is fitted with reclining chairs and personalized call-waiter-service that can accommodate 32 and 40 pax respectively, Indulge is TGV Cinema's latest unique cinema concept that stands apart from all its current chain of locations and halls.

I was welcomed by soft jazzy tones when I enter the lounge. The rich purple and silver facade provides a distinct element of class to the lounge and dining area as I was greeted by their staffs and Butterfly volunteer team.

As I've mentioned, TGV Indulge has its own dining area and we're so lucky that we get to try out their 10-course fine dining. I was told that their in-house chefs have collectively more than 40 years of experience in Asian and Western fusion cooking hence I was really looking forward to try out their signature dishes. No doubt the appearance already captured my heart, but does it tastes as good as how it looks? :P

Pumpkin Salad @ RM15

Smoked Duck Salad @ RM15

Lamb Koftas @ RM14

Stuffed Potato Skins @ RM12

Grilled Salmon @ RM28

Grilled Lamb Rack @ RM28

Cajun Chicken @ RM20

Nutty Tortilla Banana @ RM12

Panna Cotta @ RM12

I gotta say that their foods do live up to expectation in relation to their price range from RM8-RM30 each. Of course you can't compare it with other fine dining restaurants but it is good enough for a cinema's dining hall. My favourites would be stuffed potato skins, grilled salmon, cajun chicken and nutty tortilla banana. The salads are lack of seasoning, lamb koftas was a bit too dry and salty while the grilled lamb rack was too hard for my preference. I'm not a professional food blogger and it's just my two cents based on my personal preference.

Since there are 10-course meals, bite-sized portion of foods were served so that we get to try out every single type without getting bloated.

With my lovely ladies of the night: (From L-R) Ker Chi, Ker Yi, Miriam and yours truly. It feels great to catch up with my long lost buddies :)

After enjoying our luxurious dinner, we were ushered to the movie hall for "Lucy". I really love how they decorate the whole area and we've stopped halfway for a few times to take pictures :P

I got really excited when I enter the movie hall. That reclining chair, cozy blanket and personalized call-waiter-button, I wish I can watch movie here everyday! Girls, now you can dress in your best outfit to enjoy dinner with your loved one and watch movie after that without worrying that you will freeze inside the movie hall. :P

If you're rushing and no time to enjoy dinner at the dining area, you're allowed to order and eat in the cinema hall too. Food will be served in a bento box and cut into smaller pieces, so you don't need to worry about cutting your steak inside the cinema heh.

Overall, it was such a luxurious experience with TGV Indulge, from food to the seats and services etc. Not only for the discerning cinema-goer, TGV Indulge is also suitable for private and corporate functions with catering provided regardless with or without a movie screening. Definitely one of the top notch luxury cinema in Malaysia!

TGV Indulge is opened from 11AM with tickets priced at RM45 each (meals not included). For more information about Indulge and to book tickets, please log on to www.tgv.com.my or via TGV Cinemas' Movie Buddy app which is available on the Apple App and Google Play store.

Glucerna® Challenge Me for Diabetics

Diabetes is a very common word, but do you actually understand what is diabetes? Thanks to the Butterfly Project, I was invited to Glucerna® Challenge Me blogger event last month where I get to know more about diabetes and how Glucerna® Challenge Me program incorporating the new product, Glucerna, can help diabetics to manage their condition better.

Glucerna® Challenge Me is a specially designed program for people with diabetes to learn simple techniques to help them manage their diabetes with a healthy lifestyle. It helps to address three important components of managing their condition - managing blood sugar level, supporting weight management and reducing cholesterol as part of an overall diabetes management plan.

This 12-week program features a robust set of online tools and resources to provide people with diabetes with:
  • easy meal plans and recipes
  • guides on how to incorporate Glucerna into their healthy diet
  • daily exercise plans through step-by-step instructions

Glucerna is a diabetes nutrition product which provides a unique system of ingredients to help patients manage their blood glucose levels, weight and cholesterol. It can help reduce weight when used as part of an overall diabetes management plan. Best part is it can be added into any kind of food or beverages and we're so honored to have Ms. Suraiya to teach us how to bake cupcakes infused with Glucerna. (Y)

So here's the secret recipe of making Glucerna Hokkaido pandan cupcake with panda custard cream filling of 20 servings (credits to Glucerna):

INGREDIENTS
QUANTITY
Batter
Ingredient A

Egg yolks
2
Glucerna®
120ml
Vegetable oil
100ml
Few drops  Pandan essence

Ingredient B
4 tbsp
Cake flour
140g
Glucerna® powder
3 scoops
Baking powder
1 tsp
Ingredient A

Egg white

Sugar

Pandan Custard Cream Filling

Glucerna®
250ml
Custard powder
20g
Few drops Pandan essence

Dairy whipping cream, whipped
200g

First you need to mix all ingredient A to smooth paste in order to make the cupcake batter.

Sift ingredient B and add this into ingredient A mixture. Stir and make sure it combine well.

In a separate clean bowl, whisk the egg white to stiff foam, add in sugar gradually and continue to whisk until a stiff peak form. Fold the egg white form into the batter in 2-3 times and mix lightly until egg white is cooperated with the batter.

Then you can pour the batter into the cupcake moulds until 80% full.

Bake the cupcakes in a pre-heated oven at 170C for 15-20 minutes.

In the meanwhile, you can start preparing for the pandan custard cream filling. To make the filling, you need to first dissolve custard powder with Glucerna then cook the mixture to a thick consistency at low heat. Add in pandan essence then let the custard cool completely before fold in the whipped cream. When the cupcake is done, make a small hole at the middle and pipe in the filling and you're done! Easy peasy, isn't it? Now diabetics can have delicious cupcakes too! :D

Note: It is best to chill the filled cupcakes overnight before serving straight from the cup with a spoon.

Apart from learning how to bake delicious cupcakes which is suitable for diabetics, we also get to decorate our very own cupcakes with fresh fruits. Yummm!

Kindly visit www.glucernachallengeme.com to participate in the Glucerna® Challenge Me program. A mobile app is also available for iPhone or Android smart phones for on-the-go access to the program. Even though I'm not a diabetic, I've also downloaded the app to watch my diet and exercise plans. For more information on the Glucerna® Challenge Me, you may contact 1800-88-6233 (Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm).
