I bet most of you have known and tried out the ever famous boat noodle at Empire Damansara right? They've now expanded and opened a new outlet at The School @ Jaya One to cope with the incremental number of customers. This boat noodle, which also known as kuay tiew rua back in Thailand, originally served from boats floating in Bangkok's former extensive network of canals, and that's how the name come from. Even though it has been featured on various social medias, it's my first time trying out boat noodles as I'm very picky (I have weird taste okay :P) especially when it comes to Thai food yet I was thrilled to try it out. So I immediately tagged along my boyfriend to their new outlet when Jacqueline informed me that they were having food tasting session before their official launch.
Located at level P2 of The School @ Jaya One (same row as Famous Amos), you will know when you see a lot people queuing up right in front of the shop.
Simple yet traditional interior settings kinda remind me of my Bangkok trip. I would recommend you to come in a small group or else you'll have to wait longer or sit separately with your friends.
Since they haven't launch their new menu officially, we were given a limited choices of food and beverages only. I've been wanted to try out Thai coffee since ages so I picked this Kaffe Yen (Thai iced coffee) and it turns out not bad.
Here comes the main menu - boat noodles served with chicken or beef of your choices! The picture above are served with beef while the picture below are served with chicken. Basically it's a Thai style glass noodles paired with gravy, coriander, beef/chicken slices and beef/chicken balls.
Both were great I would say! At first I prefer chicken more than beef because it has tastier and tangy broth but I got sick of the taste very quickly, so beef boat noodles for the long run! :P Fyi they do serve desserts like salad and ka nam tuay as well but it's all sold out when I reach there so remember to come early if you want to try out their new menu.
As you can see, they're serving small bite sized bowls as it's a practice that was formerly used so the noodles wouldn't spill out of the bowl on the choppy canal. Hence people will want to order more and that explains why you see a lot bowl stacking pictures on social media. It's also one of the reasons why you have to queue up for an hour or more because they will sit down and keep ordering another round of boat noodles. Afterall, I think you can give it a try if you love Thai food and don't mind the queuing part. Cheerios!
