✈ Day 1 in Bangkok: Asiatique, The Riverfront

Picture explains it all. So we spent our Christmas night at Asiatique The Riverfront, an open air riverside shopping mall. I've been dreaming to celebrate Christmas at overseas and finally my dreams came true! I'm not a Christian, but I do enjoy the Christmas spirit and atmosphere very much; Christmas trees and decorations are all over the place while the caroling of Christmas songs echo through the air ^_^ It would be perfect if it was snowing in Bangkok heh. We got so excited once we arrived at Asiatique because the place is way too beautiful and the Christmas decorations are so catchy that we thought we've been transported to another country. Not forgot to mention that the ambiance there is quite lively and not overcrowded, me likey!

You may hop on these mini trains in Asiatique (free of charge) while enjoying the breathtaking view along the streets and save some energy for shopping later heh.

We were starving to death upon arrival and hence we just quickly settle our dinner at a restaurant nearby, 9E furniture bar. This small restaurant is down a side lane in warehouse 9, Factory District (kindly refer to the directory) and has laidback atmosphere and some retro furnishings and designer armchairs to lounge in serving fusion cuisine.

They claimed they serve the best authentic Thai cuisine in Asiatique but it's totally wrong! Their foods are rather bland in taste especially the tom yam soup and pineapple fried rice where I believe I can find better Thai foods in any other restaurants. So I would recommend you guys to visit other restaurants instead as there are more than 40 restaurants here ranging from Japanese, Italian, Korean, American, Thai, Chinese and even Turkish to feed your stomach. If you opt for cheaper food, there is also an outdoor food court at Town Square district and it's covered up so don't need to worry if it's raining.

After dinner, we went for a walk and start our shopping plan yay!

Further down the streets after 9E furniture bar, there are many creative or DIY stuffs selling there such as birthday mugs and various unique door locks as shown in the pictures above. There are even more but most of the shopkeepers do not allow us to take pictures. If you're a collector or vintage lover, then you shouldn't miss out this place!

At asiatique, you will see many artists along the street and surprisingly they charge way cheaper than in Malaysia. I bought one with boyfriend's and my faces on it and it only costs us 200 Baht if not mistaken (Y)

1000 Baht only for a cartoon printed ukelele! What a deal... I was so tempted to get myself one T_T

Seriously Asiatique is so beautiful that you can just simply snap your ootd at any corner or in front of the shop lot and I actually took this picture in front of a Japanese restaurant. Yay or nay? :P

One of the main attractions at Asiatique, Asiatique Sky, a jaw-dropping 60 metre high ferris wheel with 42 gondolas, which also known as the highest ferris wheel in Thailand. Was trying to snap a picture in front of the ferris wheel but it's too big to be in the picture. 250 Baht for an adult ticket, 150 Baht for children under 120cm or you may opt for a VIP gondola which able to accommodate 4-5 persons. For more information, please visit their official website.

Typical tourist picture with the Asiatique landmark. Seriously I just couldn't get enough of this place; perfect place to chill, hang out with your friends/family or even have a drink by the river. Why we don't have this type of open air riverside shopping mall in Malaysia T_T I'll definitely revisit Asiatique and ready to take tons of pictures here xx
